A Day in the Life The Cloud Engineer I supports PCS cloud infrastructure by helping build, maintain, and troubleshoot AWS environments, Windows and Linux systems, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and observability tools such as CloudWatch, ELK Stack, and Dynatrace. The role contributes to reliable, secure, scalable, and repeatable infrastructure delivery by assisting with Terraform, Ansible, scripting, monitoring, documentation, and minor system or process improvements under guidance from more experienced engineers.

Careers that Change Lives Medtronic’s Cardiovascular (CV) group is looking for a motivated Cloud Engineer I to work in Patient Care Systems (PCS), supporting cloud infrastructure services for customer-facing and business-critical applications. This entry-level individual contributor role works with close supervision to support the health, observability, scalability, security, and maintainability of AWS infrastructure and related operational components.

An ideal candidate has broad theoretical cloud and systems engineering knowledge, a strong interest in automation and infrastructure operations, and the ability to learn and apply practices across EC2, Windows, Red Hat Linux, Terraform, cloud-native services, systems administration, networking, storage, and automation. A Day in the Life Experiences and Responsibilities may include the following, and other duties may be assigned: Serve as an entry-level cloud engineering contributor on a project or work team, working with close supervision and guidance from more experienced team members.

Support cloud infrastructure tasks and related activities of limited scope, typically within smaller or less complex projects. Assist with building, maintaining, and improving AWS environments using services such as EC2, ELB, RDS, Security Groups, S3, CloudWatch, and related cloud-native capabilities. Support deployment platform and system infrastructure activities using Infrastructure-as-Code and automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar technologies.

Assist with CI/CD pipeline maintenance, automation, and repeatable infrastructure delivery under guidance from senior engineers. #Li-hybrid Use monitoring and observability platforms such as CloudWatch, ELK Stack, and Dynatrace to gather information, support troubleshooting, and help identify issues that are not immediately evident but are typically not difficult or complex. Make minor changes to systems, scripts, processes, or documentation to help solve problems and improve team operations.

Communicate primarily with internal contacts within the immediate team to gather, confirm, and convey facts, status, and technical information. undefined undefined Broad theoretical knowledge of cloud infrastructure concepts, including AWS, automation, operating systems, networking, storage, security, and observability. Ability to identify, define, and address routine cloud infrastructure issues with guidance and make minor improvements to systems, processes, or documentation.
