Listening Project Dialogue Facilitator - SESLWS

The Listening Project, which is housed in the Center for Careers, Life, and Service (CLS), is a bridge-building project that brings community members of different backgrounds together to listen to and learn from each other through facilitated dialogue opportunities. Over the past four years, the Listening Project has run over 30 dialogue sessions, both on campus and in the community, on topics ranging from healthcare access to bridging the political divide, with over 500 people participating.

We are looking for two students to join our facilitation team. Student facilitators will get training in dialogue design and facilitation. They will help plan and facilitate dialogues (generally once or twice a month), both on campus and in the community. This is a valuable opportunity for students who want to develop their dialogue skills and get more involved in the Grinnell community. We are looking for student dialogue facilitators who can expect to work 5-10 hours per week.

This position falls under the Student Union Contract and can fulfill federal work study requirements. Duties: Planning and facilitating dialogue events on campus and in the community, which happen at least once a month Attending weekly facilitation training Helping with outreach for dialogue events Requirements: No dialogue facilitation experience needed - you will get all the training you need Passion for dialogue Curiosity and a willingness to try to understand people, even those you disagree with An interest in getting involved in the Grinnell Community Applicants for the position will need to provide a cover letter and resume.
