Overview of the Position: Learn and understand the proper operation of the employee's machine (Lathe / Mill). Be responsible for that machine, report any problems to Management. Use and be able to read micrometers, and bore gauges. Learn and be able to indicate or "zero" parts on machines. Grind parts to the specifications called for on "Travelers". Be familiar with the company computer system, knowing how to "clock" parts to locations and document the required paperwork.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Learn and understand the proper operation of your machine, reporting any problems to Management Use and be able to read micrometers, and bore gauges Center chucks on machine to accept parts for grinding Machine indicate or "zero" parts on machines Machine parts to the specifications called for on "Travelers" Properly lubricate grinding equipment and parts Operate a power hand tool to grind or buff parts Use proper hearing, eye, and foot protection as required Understand the potential exposures to metal filings and particles.
Know and understand the dust recovery system and associated safety rules, and the potential exposures to grinding dust and dressing rock dust Learn the proper use of the dot welding machine Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must speak, read and write the English language Should have basic computer software skills Prior work experience in conventional machining (Mill / Lathe) helpful but not required.
