Job at a glance
Performs qualitative and quantitative analysis of medical records for all patient types by identifying missing or incomplete items and assigning deficiencies to the responsible practitioner. Processes and monitors analysis and reanalysis work queues to ensure all records are completed appropriately. Retrieves paper records from specified locations on the hospital campus. Ensures receipt of all inpatient/outpatient/emergency department patient records and reviews each document for proper patient identification.
Identifies and corrects poor originals and unscannable items and assembles documents in established order. Processes records and loose forms into the electronic medical record (EMR), ensuring documents are scanned and indexed to the appropriate patient encounter and document name with the highest level of quality and accuracy possible, and in a timely and efficient manner to avoid delays in further processing.
Answers telephones and provides prompt, efficient and courteous customer service to requestors. Prints and processes dictated/transcribed reports, as needed. Files paper medical records for storage, as needed.
