Cook / Prep Cook

Durango Cocina & Rooftop is looking for a dependable and hardworking Cook / Prep Cook to join our kitchen team. We are seeking someone who takes pride in preparing quality food, maintaining a clean workspace, and supporting smooth kitchen operations in a fast-paced restaurant environment. Key Responsibilities • Prepare ingredients according to recipes, portion standards, and daily prep lists • Cook and plate menu items accurately and consistently • Wash, cut, portion, label, date, and properly store food products • Maintain food quality, freshness, presentation, and portion control • Follow food safety, sanitation, and proper food-handling procedures • Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout the shift • Assist with receiving, rotating, and storing food deliveries • Follow FIFO procedures and help reduce food waste • Communicate with cooks, servers, supervisors, and other team members • Assist with opening, closing, and general kitchen-cleaning duties • Follow all restaurant policies, recipes, safety procedures, and management instructions • Perform additional kitchen duties as assigned Qualifications • Previous restaurant kitchen, line cook, or food-preparation experience preferred • Basic knowledge of food safety and kitchen sanitation • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment • Reliable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift kitchen supplies as needed • Available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and other shifts based on business needs • Valid California Food Handler Card required or must be obtained within the required timeframe What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, respectful, and committed to preparing high-quality food.
