Operations Manager Lansing Shuffle | Lansing, Michigan Full-Time | Approximately 40 Hours per Week | Onsite About Lansing Shuffle Lansing Shuffle is a unique downtown Lansing destination featuring a food hall with independent restaurant operators, a full-service bar, shuffleboard, private events, and entertainment. We're looking for a hands-on Operations Manager to take ownership of our daily operations and help deliver a consistently great experience for guests, employees, and event customers.
This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys running a business, solving problems, leading a small team, and seeing the results of their work. The Opportunity We're seeking someone who doesn't wait to be told what needs to be done. Our ideal Operations Manager notices problems, takes initiative, follows through, and holds themselves and others accountable. You'll have meaningful autonomy to manage daily operations, make decisions, and improve how the business runs.
You'll report to a part-time Director of Operations, with support from a Lead Porter, Lead Bartender, and Sales Manager. Your success will be measured by how effectively the venue operates—not simply by the hours you spend onsite. What You'll Be Responsible For Daily Operations & Guest Experience Ensure the venue is clean, organized, properly staffed, and ready for guests every day. Oversee opening and closing procedures, service standards, and day-to-day execution.
Address guest concerns, operational problems, and unexpected situations promptly. Maintain a welcoming, safe, and professional environment. Coordinate with the Sales Manager to ensure private events are properly staffed and executed. Team Leadership Hire, train, schedule, coach, and supervise bartenders, porters, and support staff. Set clear expectations and hold employees accountable for performance.
Ensure reliable coverage during all operating hours, including nights and weekends. Review employee timecards, attendance, and payroll information. Build a positive, dependable team that takes pride in its work. Facility & Inventory Oversight Ensure bathrooms, common areas, event spaces, and the bar consistently meet cleanliness standards. Identify maintenance needs, coordinate repairs, and follow through until issues are resolved.
Oversee the Lead Porter and Lead Bartender in maintaining adequate supplies and accurate inventory. Monitor inventory discrepancies, waste, and operational inefficiencies. Coordinate service providers and vendors as needed. Financial & Operational Controls Monitor labor costs and schedule efficiently based on business demand. Ensure accurate cash handling, daily reconciliation, and proper operational controls.
Review sales and operational performance to identify improvement opportunities. Maintain compliance with applicable safety, alcohol service, and workplace requirements. Provide concise weekly updates on operational performance, outstanding issues, and priorities. What We're Looking For Experience supervising employees in a bar, restaurant, entertainment venue, hotel, or similar hospitality environment.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities. A demonstrated history of taking initiative and completing tasks without constant supervision. Confidence making decisions, solving problems, and holding employees accountable. Comfort using scheduling software, POS systems, and basic business reporting tools. Willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
A practical, hands-on approach to leadership. You don't need experience managing a large restaurant or corporate hospitality operation. We're more interested in your judgment, reliability, leadership, and ability to get things done. What Makes Someone Successful Here You'll be successful if you: See something that needs attention and take responsibility for getting it resolved. Follow through without needing repeated reminders.
Create clear expectations for employees and address problems when standards aren't met. Balance guest experience with responsible labor and operating costs. Communicate proactively, especially when something isn't going according to plan. Take pride in running an operation that functions smoothly and consistently. Compensation & Schedule Pay: $24 per hour, approximately $50k annually based on 40 hours per week.
Schedule: Full-time, approximately 40 hours weekly, with a mix of daytime, evening, and weekend shifts. Location: Lansing Shuffle, downtown Lansing, Michigan. Reporting to: Director of Operations. Interested? If you're a dependable, self-directed hospitality professional who enjoys leading people, solving problems, and taking ownership of results, we'd like to hear from you.
