Our client, an engineering organisation in Tyne & Wear, is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead end-to-end mechanical design of electromechanical products - from clean-sheet concept through prototype build/test and release into production . Please note: no visa sponsorship available. What you'll be doing Owning mechanical design for rotating equipment / drivetrain-style assemblies Leading concept development, prototyping, validation and test support Delivering engineering analysis (hand calcs + CAE) with a focus on reliability/durability Producing 3D CAD and 2D drawings , supporting release to manufacture Applying DFM/DFA and DFMEA/PFMEA Working closely with manufacturing/test teams, plus supplier management Mentoring junior engineers What we're looking for Strong 3D CAD + 2D drawing capability (any major CAD package) Experience with engineering analysis / CAE Practical background in DFM and supporting builds/testing Some supplier management exposure Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent experience) Nice to have Inventor / SolidWorks , MASTA / KISSsoft High-volume manufacturing and/or casting design Gears/transmissions/bearings knowledge and related calculations What's on offer Hybrid working Development and progression opportunities Supportive, collaborative engineering culture Full benefits package
