Senior Product Engineer (Python/TypeScript, APIs, LLM)

A senior backend role on a platform that runs AI agents for enterprise customer service. As a Senior Product Engineer you’ll spend most of your time on the engineering underneath those agents: the APIs, the connections into customers’ systems, the orchestration layer and the infrastructure that has to stay up as usage grows. This is not a heads-down-only seat. Alongside the build work you’ll be in the room when new customer projects are scoped, you’ll help move pilots into full production, and you’ll measure how live agents are doing for the customers who run them.

What you’ll do Design, build and run the backend services that production AI agents depend on Build APIs and connect the platform to the systems customers already use Take features from first design to release, then watch their performance and reliability in production Help set the technical scope and success measures at the start of customer projects Track live agents against those measures and report the results Coach less experienced engineers and lift the team’s engineering standards What you’ll need At least 5 years of backend engineering, building and running production systems Strong Python or TypeScript (Node.js) Solid experience designing APIs and integrating with third-party systems Good working knowledge of Postgres or similar, including data modelling and query performance Experience with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, logging and monitoring LLM-powered features or applications that you’ve built and shipped to production The ability to explain technical trade-offs clearly to non-technical stakeholders Experience mentoring or leading junior engineers Nice to have Queues and event-driven architecture Messaging platform APIs (such as WhatsApp Business), voice AI or telephony integrations Agent orchestration, RAG or LLM evaluations Supabase, or workflow tools such as n8n Experience in insurance, telco or financial services An understanding of POPIA and handling personal data in AI systems Involvement in scoping or pre-sales for technical projects What’s on offer Ownership of a production AI platform with enterprise users Deep engineering work with a direct line to the people relying on it Fully remote working You’re a hands-on engineer who is also at ease in front of a customer.
