Sous Chef

Mercer Street Hospitality Group is looking for a full-time, experienced Sous Chef to join our team. We are committed to providing an unparalleled dining experience for our guests and seek a team leader who can positively impact our already thriving business. Job Description: * Hands-on supporting role to the Executive Chef in day-to-day operations * Managing and maintaining inventory * Ensuring work product complies with standard operating procedures * Maintaining current recipes and presentations * Training team members to assist with production Job Requirements: * Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sous Chef.

* Passion for building a strong team * High-volume restaurant and catering experience * Organizational skills * Willing to learn and adapt to new procedures * Strong knife Skills * Strong Communication Skills * Certification by NYC DOH * Has an influential philosophy of leadership and management presence based on mutual respect in an organization, coupled with strong business acumen. * The ability to maintain a calm demeanor under pressure while understanding the principles of People, Products, and Processes.

* Produce accurate recipes and photo specifications for new dishes implemented on menus. * Take ownership of kitchen cleanliness at all times. * Take ownership of correct portion control so that wastage is kept to a minimum and to ensure that correct stock rotation is evident within the kitchen. * Must have a flexible schedule and be available to work nights and weekends. * Must be able to work 50hrs/weeks.
