The Orange County Health Department is accepting applications for a Patient Account Technician. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS The work involves the responsibility for providing clerical and administrative support in the Health Department Clinic by determining sliding scale fees/patient responsibility, scanning documents, data entry, collecting payments, posting payments, reconciling daily deposits.
Work is performed under the general direction of the Patients Accounts Manager with some leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in the performance of duties, both in terms of planning and accomplishing work, and in making decisions regarding customer needs and requests and conducting project assignments. Supervision over others is not required of this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree in medical office technology and (1) one year of work experience in a medical or front office performing bookkeeping and clerical functions; OR An equivalent combination of educational training and experience.
A higher degree does not substitute for work experience. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS All offers of employment are conditional upon successful clearance of a background check.
