The fundamental reason this classification exists is to perform manual work that does not require a high degree of manipulative skill or an acquired skill or previous experience. Work is generally performed under the immediate direction of a supervisor, but many types of work assigned may be very routine and repetitive in nature, and once learned, can be carried out with some independence. Employees in the classification may work in support of temporary, casual, or seasonal needs for no more than six consecutive months in any 12-month period.
Requires basic skills in reading and writing and the ability to use simple tools and equipment, where proficiency is gained in hours or days. NOTE : Qualifying education, training, and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered. Some positions require the use of departmental vehicles on departmental business. Individuals must be capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver’s license, and have an acceptable driving record.
