Fitter/Fabricator Location: Ashland, VA Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Pay: Starting at $24.00/hour — higher rates available depending on experience Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM, with Saturdays as required Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Fitter/Fabricator to fabricate, fit, and assemble components for overhead cranes and related equipment. The ideal candidate can read shop drawings, interpret AWS weld symbols, and perform high-quality FCAW welding.
Key Responsibilities Fabricate and fit components according to shop drawings and specifications. Perform high-quality Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) . Read and interpret shop drawings and AWS weld symbols. Produce welds that meet or exceed AWS D1.1 and D14.1 standards. Pass a full-penetration vertical weld test and overhead fillet weld test . Work safely in a heavy industrial environment. Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
Work 10-hour shifts and Saturdays as required. Lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Requirements Previous experience as a Fitter/Fabricator or in a similar industrial role. Ability to read shop drawings and interpret welding symbols. Experience with FCAW welding. Ability to pass the required welding tests. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
