Major duties: You will develop and deliver laboratory, and hands-on instruction in manufacturing, composites, woodworking and related engineering technologies. You will design, plan, construct, and assemble complex precision models, test devices and components from composites, wood and other engineering materials using drawings, CAD models, sketches, and conceptual designs. You will operate and maintain manual woodworking and CNC machinery—including table saws, band saws, jointers, and a multi-axis CNC router—to cut, shape, and process engineering materials to tight tolerances.
You will consult on design feasibility, materials selection, fabrication methods, manufacturability, tolerances, and construction techniques; recommend modifications to achieve project and testing objectives. You will determine test procedures and make design changes to improve test equipment and related accessories. You will use CAD/CAM software (such as GibbsCAM, Rhino, and SolidWorks) to translate complex 3D CAD models and generate G-code for CNC router operations.
