About the Position: This position is located at 28th Medical Group, Ellsworth Air Force Base, in South Dakota. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Major duties: Educate aviators on current approved soft contact lens options and contact lens solutions. Review medical records for previous visual acuity assessments and updates patient’s visual status. Conduct specialized testing to meet the visual needs, requirements, and demands for Flying Class, occupational, and special aircrew vision positions.
Counsel patients on optometry policies and procedures that are outlined in applicable instructions. Perform eye patching, irrigation, and other duties for injuries as directed by an optometrist. Perform user maintenance on clinic equipment as recommended by manufacturer/warranty. Education: FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S.
